As we hear from Mr. Ratnam of Chennai Navabharath Theatres (who happens to be the son of Shri. Koothapiran), the play would revolve around the following synopsis:

Ganapathy iyer and Thanga Mami, a like minded old aged couple, Chinna kannan – their only help for domestic work – an orphan – the story revolves around these characters.  Thanga mami’s only wish in her life is to visit varanasi (KASI) – the holy Place of hindus.  Her wish never fulfilled due to various circumstances and due to relectance of Ganapathy Iyer..   A young foreign lady arrives to their town who has come all the way from ENGLAND to perform her fathers rites at KASI.  This  influence Ganapathy iyer to plan a trip to KASI with Thanga Mami.  This plan also fails.  Here, thanga mami finds the real reason.  Why Ganapathi iyer hesitating to go to KASI, Did thanga mami really accompany him when he plan a trip ?  who was China kannan
