Tamil Stage Drama Producers’ Association Inauguration function

The inaugural function of Tamil Stage Drama Producers’ Association was held on 28th November 2011 at Narada Gana Sabha (Mini) Hall, Alwarpet, Chennai

Veteren Director, Dr. K. Balachander, doyen of tamil stage and cinema formally inaugurated the Association in the presence of tamil stage veterens, patrons, and a gathering of almost all those who are engaged in tamil mainstream theatre.

Inaugurating the Association, Dr. K. Balachander recalled his memory to the earlier days of his youthful days when he used to spend the pocket money snatched from his father for witnessing dramas.  He lauded the efforts of the association members for having brought all troupes staging tamil plays under an umbrella.  He has emphatically declared that even today Theatre is the  only form of entertainment that remains unpolluted.  Having started his illustrious career as a playwright he appealed to all the dramatists of tamil theatre to infuse fresh blood by introuducing fresh story ideas to woo the present generation.

T.V. Varadharajen, Secretary of the Association while explaining the reason for starting the Association categorically stated that the objective of the association is to coexist with all concerned and strive to take tamil theatre to new heights.  He has announced with a thunderous applause from the gathering that the Association would organise a Daily Theatre Festival for a month in Chennai and its suburbs.

Shri Nalli Kuppuswamy Chetti, Shri L.Sabaretnam, Vice Chairman of Bharatiya Vidhya Bhavan, Shri A. Natarajan, Former Director of Doordarshan, Shri Deva, Chairman and Selvi Sachu, Member Secretary of Tamilnadu Iyal Isai Nadaka Mandram, Shri R.Krishnaswamy, President of the Federation of City Sabhas, Senior Artists Shri V.S.Raghavan and Shri A.R.S., Shri Murali of Krishna Sweets, Shri Trishakthi Sundaraman, Chairman of Tirshakthi Group, Shri Radha Ravi, Secretary of South Indian Artists Association, Shri Makkal Kural Ramjee were among the diginitaries participated in the function and felicitated.

The programme was compered by C.V. Chandramohan which was webtelecast live.
